| A Brighter Future |

A fourCE.org informal survey of 23 US incentive houses found that the post-September 11 scenario for incentive travel might be surprisingly optimistic. Here is a quick summary:
Although there were very few cancellations, many programs were postponed until 2002. Most supplier/partners waived cancellation fees, solidifying relationships for future business. Bookings for 2002 and beyond are beginning to return to normal levels, however buyers are asking for a "Plan B" in the proposal stages. Domestic destinations, the Caribbean and Mexico are generating great interest.
We at fourCE.org have a strong sense that although solutions may be different than in the past (such as individual rather than group travel rewards) the incentive industry will rebound in the second quarter of 2002.

Paul Flackett,CITE, and Ray Bloom have unveiled plans for IMEX, the Worldwide Exhibition for Incentive Travel, Meetings & Events. The new show will premiere April 8-10 in Frankfurt and will incorporate the "Meetings Made in Germany" exhibition sponsored by the German Convention Bureau. The show will feature many innovations, from a video-link opportunity for exhibitors that cannot attend, to a marketing mentor program to connect buyers with exhibitors. An extensive "hosted buyer" program as well as daily seminars are planned. Learn more about IMEX at www.imex-frankfurt.com. |
